Encyclopedia of Life

The Encyclopedia of Life (EOL) seeks to “increase awareness and understanding of living nature through an Encyclopedia of Life that gathers, generates, and shares knowledge in an open, freely accessible and trusted digital resource.”It is supported in its mission by a number of museums including the  Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History.

EOL provides lessons and podcasts aimed at upper elementary and middle school students about:

  • Behavior
  • Biodiversity
  • Classification
  • Citizen Science
  • Ecology
  • Evolution
  • Research
  • Impacts

EOL provides a variety of tools to support learning.
