Digital Vaults of the National Archive is an interactive tool to help students begin to explore the digital holdings of the National Archives. It seems appropriate for both Middle and High School students because it introduces research skills and primary documents.
The experience begins with randomly selected artifacts. The student also has the option of search for their own resources.
When the student clicks on one resource, all other collected resources are brought around it in a web, so the student can visually see how the objects are connected together.
In the detailed view, the student can see a zoomable picture of the item and is provided with a detailed explanation of its history. In the tabs on the lower right-hand side, there is also links to additional resources within the National Archive collection.
